Check rates and convert currencies

moni keeps live Exchange rates right on Home and turns any amount into all of your currencies at once, with rate charts that go as far as ten years back.

Lesson 25 of 32 2 min
  1. The rate on Home

The rate at the top of Home pairs the main currency of Exchange rates with the first one in its list, dollars and rupiahs here.

The dearer currency comes first: a dollar is 17,902 rupiahs, not a rupiah for 0.000056 dollars. Tap it for Exchange rates.

Home with the rate at the top: 1 USD = 17,902.00 IDR, next to the Exchange rates button
  2. Convert an amount

Tap a currency to make it the main one, then type an amount: 3,200 dollars of salary are 57.29 million rupiahs right now.

moni keeps the amount for next time. Fiat rates are updated every working day, crypto every hour; pull down for fresh ones.

Exchange rates: 3,200 US dollars as 57,286,400.00 rupiahs and 0.03949642 bitcoin
  3. Follow the rate

Chart shows how the rate has moved: up 1.4% over the past month. Pick a longer period, from 3M up to 10Y, or swap the pair.

The Chart tab: USD to IDR over the past month, 17,902.00 now, up 1.4%, with high, low and average
  4. Add a currency

Tap + and pick any currency, like the yen for the trip to Japan. Save adds it to your list; swipe a row left to remove it again.

Add currency: USD, IDR, BTC and JPY selected, Save at the top

If something goes wrong

Where do the rates come from?
Fiat rates are the central banks’ own, from Frankfurter, every working day; on weekends you see Friday’s. Crypto comes from CoinGecko every single hour.
There’s no rate on Home
Home shows the rate once Exchange rates holds two currencies or more. With just one, there’s nothing to compare it with, so the top of Home simply stays clean.
I’m offline
Without the internet, moni uses the last rates it got and tells you which day they’re from. Pull down on Home for fresh ones as soon as you’re back online again.
No 5Y or 10Y for bitcoin
Crypto history covers only the past year, so pairs with crypto don’t offer 5Y and 10Y. Pairs of ordinary currencies go back a whole ten years, every single day of them.
