Repay a debt

Pay a debt back all at once or bit by bit. Each repayment is a transfer back, and moni shows you how much is still left to pay until the debt is closed for good.

Lesson 21 of 32 2 min
  1. Swipe to pay back

On the Debts page, swipe a debt to the right and tap Pay back. A long swipe pays back everything that’s still left, at once.

The Debts page with Sam’s debt swiped right, showing Pay back
  2. Choose how much

The amount starts as everything that’s left, in grey. Type in a smaller amount to pay back a part, like 150 dollars to Sam.

Below it: borrowed, paid back so far and what will be left. The money comes from Wise, today; you can change both later.

Pay back debt: 400.00 dollars left, borrowed 400.00, paid back 0.00, with moni’s calculator
  3. See what’s left

Open the debt to see its Repayments: 150 of 400 dollars paid back so far, each payment with its own day and with its account.

Pay back monthly sets a repeat for the rest, the last one only what’s left. Or tap Mark the rest as forgiven, if Sam lets it all go.

Edit debt for Sam: 400.00 dollars, Repayments with 150.00 of 400.00 USD paid back on September 8

If something goes wrong

I paid back more than I owed
moni asks if the difference is interest. Say yes, and the extra becomes an expense in the category you choose, while the debt itself closes at its own amount, exactly.
Sam forgave me the rest
Tap Mark the rest as forgiven under Repayments. What’s left then becomes income in the category you choose, and the debt moves over to Closed debts.
I paid from another account
Open the repayment from Flow or from Repayments and change its account there. It can even be in another currency; the debt keeps its own amount right.
I closed a debt by mistake
Tap Undo in the banner, or delete the repayment later on. Then the debt opens again with the same amount left, just as if nothing had happened to it at all.
